About the Grant

The objective of the Façade Improvement Grant (FIG) program is to restore, sustain, and improve commercial properties located within the City of Newport News. The FIG program provides matching grant funds, up to a maximum of $20,000, to assist with eligible façade improvements on properties citywide that are used for commercial, industrial, office or mixed-use purposes.

Dream Makers Founder Grant
15 Percent Pledge

Underrepresented communities continue to fuel entrepreneurship nationwide, with historically excluded founders driving innovation and economic growth. Despite this momentum, systemic barriers still prevent many from accessing the funding they need to scale. That is why we are excited to announce the return of the Dream Makers Founder Grant in 2025! This $1 million grant fund, established by Nancy Twine, is dedicated to supporting underrepresented entrepreneurs and elevating the talents and innovations of historically excluded founders. As part of this multi-year commitment, the Pledge will award $125,000 annually, distributing five $25,000 grants each year to outstanding business owners.

NC State Trade Expansion Program
Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina

North Carolina’s State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) helps fund small businesses in North Carolina that trade internationally. When you qualify for STEP, you can receive up to $12,000 in reimbursements for expenses related to doing internal trade. Through this program, North Carolina aims to reduce costs for businesses that export products out of the country, promoting international trade in the state. As of 2025, the program offers $3,000 worth of travel funding for businesses that co-exhibit in an Economic Development Partnership North Carolina booth at a trade show. They also offer up to $8,000 for booth costs at trade shows, export services and marketing media used to reach foreign markets, e-commerce and website localization fees, and EXIM credit insurance fees, among other costs.

Alcohol Treatment, Pharmacotherapy, and Recovery Research
National Institutes of Health

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism solicits applications for an R01 Clinical Trial Required mechanism focusing on alcohol treatment and recovery research. This NOFO will focus broadly on topics relevant for treatment of and recovery from alcohol use disorder (AUD), including: medications development, precision medicine, behavioral therapies and mechanisms of behavioral change (MOBC), recovery, translational research, and innovative methods and technologies for AUD treatment and recovery.

Delaware Compass Grant
State of Delaware

Delaware small businesses may apply for a Compass Grant to support international travel or business development activities. This grant offers greater flexibility than previous programs. Compass Grant funds may be used to reimburse up to 50 percent of all pre-approved, eligible, international marketing expenses, up to a maximum of $10,000 per fiscal year, per company.
