Purpose: The Song-Brown program funds institutions that train primary care health professionals to provide healthcare in California’s medically underserved areas. Description: This grant opportunity will result in funding organizations to train certified nurse midwifery students to work in underserved communities. Such strategies shall incorporate the following elements: 1. Establishing procedures to identify, recruit, and admit certified nurse midwifery students who possess characteristics which would suggest a predisposition to practice in areas of unmet need, and who express a commitment to serve in areas of unmet need. 2. Implementing counseling and placement programs to encourage training program graduates to enter practice in areas of unmet need. 3. Providing a preceptorship experience in an area of unmet need to enhance the potential of training program graduates to practice in such an area.

The Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) offers annual Farmer Resilience Grants to projects that have a positive social, environmental, and economic impact in their community. Farmers can earn between $2,000 and $5,000 for their projects.

The Building Bridges Small Business Program is designed to help Milwaukee entrepreneurs navigate resources and organizations to fuel commercial corridor revitalization. Elligible businesses can receive up to $10,000 in grants to start or expand brick-and-mortar commercial corridor businesses. Applications are administered through partner agencies across Milwaukee.

This program assists in the creation of new small businesses or the physical expansion of existing small businesses in targeted commercial corridors by providing forgivable loans to qualified applicants. Eligible Applicants include new small business owners occupying vacant space, or expanding small business owners. The business must be located in a first-floor storefront unit with emphasis to the Creative Economy.

The Downtown Houston+ Property Improvement Grants offer property owners, businesses, and developers in Downtown Houston multiple funding opportunities to revitalize buildings, activate storefronts, and enhance street-level vibrancy. Administered by Downtown Houston+ in partnership with the Houston Downtown Management District and the Downtown Redevelopment Authority, the program currently includes four grant pathways tailored to different types of improvements: the Thrive Storefront Grant Program, which offers 1:2 matching grants of up to $50,000 to fund ground-level storefront improvements that increase retail activity and street-level vibrancy; the Facade Improvement Grant, which provides up to $250,000 to help property owners and tenants within the TIRZ #3 boundaries revitalize building facades; the Alfresco Grant, which provides up to $10,000 for non-permanent outdoor furnishings such as seating, umbrellas, and planters, with an additional $5,000 available for permanent fixtures like awnings and lighting; and the Fresh Start Market Grant, which works with existing grocery-offering businesses to enhance fresh food offerings, staff training, and physical improvements to their space. All grant applications are evaluated against the Downtown Houston+ Design Standards, and awards are subject to available budget and organizational priorities.
