Cedar Rapids Sustainability Grant
Cedar Rapids City Manager
ABOUT THE GRANT
The Cedar Rapids City Manager’s Sustainability Grant provides Cedar Rapids, Iowa nonprofits, businesses, and community groups with grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 per project to implement community-driven sustainability projects that benefit the public. Administered by the City of Cedar Rapids and recently launched in October 2026, the program is designed to support community-led efforts that advance sustainability, economic vitality, health, and environmental resilience, aligning with both the city’s Community Climate Action Plan (adopted in September 2021 with a goal of making Cedar Rapids carbon-free, resilient, and accessible by 2050) and the EnvisionCR comprehensive plan.
Eligible projects must take place within Cedar Rapids, provide a public benefit, and support the city’s broader sustainability goals. Example project types include electric vehicle charging stations, nature-based spaces and playgrounds, waste-reduction efforts, active transportation projects, energy conservation initiatives, public art and beautification, mini forest planting, and other projects that enhance outdoor spaces or reduce environmental impact. Grants are intended for one-year projects, though extensions may be approved with appropriate justification. Successful applicants are also expected to prioritize local spending in executing their project.
Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, businesses, and community groups. Applications are evaluated across five criteria: feasibility, innovation, budget, community engagement, and alignment with city priorities. Applications are submitted through the city’s online grant portal, which also hosts the full set of program guidelines, scoring criteria, and application requirements.

AMP’D Iowa Grants
Iowa Workforce Development
The Advanced Manufacturing Pathways Development (AMP'D) Iowa Program provides Iowa advanced manufacturing employers with reimbursement grants of up to 80 percent of training costs, with maximums of $4,000 per employee and $250,000 per business, to design and implement employer-led training programs that build a more skilled and competitive manufacturing workforce. Administered by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) and funded through a $4.7 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Labor's Industry-Driven Skills Training Fund (Iowa was one of 14 states to receive an award), AMP'D Iowa provides approximately $4.3 million in available funding statewide to reimburse Iowa advanced manufacturers for training newly hired or current employees. The program builds on Iowa's industry-led Manufacturing 4.0 initiative and is designed to help manufacturers close skilled labor gaps, create new pipelines of workers, accelerate upskilling, offset the high cost of training, and improve worker retention by aligning training with the technological needs of modern manufacturing. To qualify, employers must operate in Iowa's advanced manufacturing sector and train employees in eligible manufacturing occupations identified by the program. Priority funding is given to eligible small and medium-sized employers (with 0 to 499 employees), and reimbursement amounts are scaled based on employer size. Reimbursements are processed at two milestones: the first upon completion of the training program, and the second upon verified job retention with the employer for six months following training completion. To receive reimbursement, employers must formally agree to program and individual employee reporting requirements, document valid expenses, and verify training completions, credential attainment, and six-month employee retention. Applications are reviewed as they are received, on a rolling basis.

Innovative Pilot Mental Health Services Research Not Involving Clinical Trials
National Institutes of Health
The purpose of this Notice of Funding Announcement (NOFO) is to encourage pilot research that is not an immediate precursor to testing a service intervention but is consistent with NIMH priorities for services research. While NIMH now requires use of an experimental therapeutics model for all intervention studies, there is recognition that some mission-relevant areas of services research do not involve clinical trials.
NYC Neighborhood Business Grant
CitizensNYC
The Neighborhood Business Grant provides New York City small businesses with microgrants of up to $5,000 to fund initiatives that positively impact their community. Administered by CitizensNYC, one of New York's oldest microgranting organizations (founded approximately 50 years ago and made possible by philanthropic partners including leadership support from M&T Bank), the program funds community-minded businesses of all kinds, from barbershops and bookstores to wellness studios, cafés, and childcare providers, that play a positive role in their neighborhood. To qualify, applicants must operate a business located in one of New York City's five boroughs, have been operating for at least two years, employ 10 or fewer people, be profit-generating, and be able to provide proof of business such as bank statements, tax documents, and POS terminal statements. The program runs two grant cycles each year, one in the fall and one in the spring. Applicants who are awarded grants through the first cycle are ineligible to apply again during the second cycle of that year, but unsuccessful first-cycle applicants are welcome to submit an updated application for the second cycle. Applications are scored across four key criteria: Need, Relevance, Urgency, and Quality of Life Impact. CitizensNYC also offers info sessions and online office hours to help applicants refine their project ideas and applications before submission.
