The Business Acceleration Grant supports existing businesses and provides funding assistance that allows for the expansion or improved operation of qualified Englewood businesses. The grant offers up to $10,000 for physical/capital investments that support expanding businesses, improve business operations, or foster business retention. Capital improvements are permanent investments in the building or on the property, which are generally associated with a building permit. Businesses open in Englewood for a minimum of two years are eligible to apply. Businesses that apply for funding assistance must either own their building or if the business is a tenant have a minimum of two years remaining on a lease for eligibility. Successful grant applications should demonstrate that funding will yield an increase in the number of employees at the business or an increase in sales revenues.

The Chicago Community Development Grant provides funding to support business and neighborhood vitality across the City of Chicago through three tiers of grants based on project size. Mixed-use residential projects are eligible, though residential costs cannot exceed 25% of the total grant amount and must be part of a broader building improvement. Disbursements are made at defined construction milestones. The Medium Community Development Grant: Provides grants from $300,001 to $5,000,000 to support moderate-scale commercial, cultural, industrial, institutional, social service, and mixed-use projects. Medium grants fund up to 50% of total project costs and are awarded through competitive, semi-annual funding rounds. The CDG-M includes a Local Residency Bonus for applicants whose primary residence and proposed project are both located within the Neighborhood Opportunity Fund's Qualified Investment Area. The Large Community Development Grant: Provides grants in excess of $5,000,000 to support significant commercial, cultural, industrial, institutional, social service, and mixed-use development projects. Large grants are intended to cover approximately 25% of total project costs and are issued as a lump-sum reimbursement upon project completion. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, with an initial DPD review within two to four weeks and final approval required from Chicago City Council.

The Salt Lake City Business Stabilization Grant provides Salt Lake City small businesses with reimbursement grants of up to $3,500 per property per year to help pay for repairs to physical damage on the exterior of their business property. Administered by the Salt Lake City Housing Stability Division and funded through federal grant dollars, the program is designed to help small businesses stabilize after property damage and remain operational in their commercial locations. Awards are issued on a first-come, first-served basis, with the full application-to-payment process typically taking one to two months. Eligible damages include repairs to broken windows, exterior lights, fencing, power lines, and other physical damage to the exterior of the business property. Insurance deductibles also qualify. The damage must have occurred no more than 120 days before the application date, repairs must already be completed at the time of application, and applicants must provide photographic proof of the damage and repairs alongside receipts or invoices demonstrating payment. Costs already covered by insurance are not eligible for reimbursement (the grant covers only remaining out-of-pocket costs). Graffiti removal, interior damages, vehicle damages, stolen goods costs, new security features, home-based businesses, and short-term or long-term rental properties are not eligible. To qualify, businesses must be located within the program's designated annual target area (both sides of border streets qualify), hold an active Salt Lake City business license, and meet the program's definition of a small business (three locations or fewer, no more than 50 full-time equivalent employees, and independently owned rather than a franchise or chain). Tenant businesses must provide a letter of support from the property owner. Applicants must submit their application through the city's Neighborly online portal along with required documents including photographs, receipts, insurance policy and claim information, a completed W-9, and proof of business or property ownership. Applications are reviewed for eligibility within about two weeks. Approved recipients are set up as contractors in the city's financial system and receive their reimbursement check by mail, typically within another two to three weeks.
