About the Grant

DHCD provides funding to highly qualified community-based non-profit organizations to develop storefront façade improvement projects in low/moderate income retail/commercial areas in the District of Columbia. Typically, a project is comprised of between ten and twenty-five, preferably concentrated within a few blocks, storefronts selected by the participating non-profit. Qualified business and/or commercial property owners within the targeted area receive matching grants for general repairs/maintenance and for the installation of doors, windows, signs, storefront systems, awnings, and lighting. The non-profit organization provides the business and/or property owners with professional design and construction services throughout the storefront renovation.

This grant provides flexible capital to small businesses often shut out of traditional funding—especially those led by BIPOC, immigrant, LGBTQIA+, women, low-income, or veteran entrepreneurs. Flexible funding gives small business owners the freedom to decide where funds will make the greatest impact. Rather than being tied to a specific program or expense, these grants allow entrepreneurs to invest in what their business needs most—whether it’s stabilizing operations, purchasing equipment, expanding marketing efforts or preparing for growth.

Song-Brown Certified Nurse Midwifery (CNM) Training Programs 2025 Application

Purpose: The Song-Brown program funds institutions that train primary care health professionals to provide healthcare in California’s medically underserved areas. Description: This grant opportunity will result in funding organizations to train certified nurse midwifery students to work in underserved communities. Such strategies shall incorporate the following elements: 1. Establishing procedures to identify, recruit, and admit certified nurse midwifery students who possess characteristics which would suggest a predisposition to practice in areas of unmet need, and who express a commitment to serve in areas of unmet need. 2. Implementing counseling and placement programs to encourage training program graduates to enter practice in areas of unmet need. 3. Providing a preceptorship experience in an area of unmet need to enhance the potential of training program graduates to practice in such an area.

The Small Business Grant is designed to help Columbia, MO businesses grow, innovate, and improve operations. This competitive grant prioritizes businesses owned by residents of economically disadvantaged areas in Columbia and supports long-term community impact.
