ABOUT THE GRANT

The Empire State Development's Supplier Innovative Finance Program offers up to $5,000 in unrestricted grants to help socially and economically disadvantaged businesses in New York grow and access capital. In addition to funding, businesses can access educational resources designed to help founders improve their funding readiness and connect them with funders in matchmaking sessions. To be eligible, companies must be headquartered in New York with annual revenues between $250,000 and $10 million and certified as minority, women, veteran, or LGBTQ+ owned.

MD Urban Agriculture Grant
MARBIDCO

This grant is designed to meet the needs of MAryland urban farmers by providing an incentive for beginning urban farmers to seek commercial lender financing for the development of their urban agricultural enterprises, including the purchase of a farm property in an eligible urban area. MARBIDCO has partnered with Horizon Farm Credit to establish and manage this fund.

Virginia Seed Capital Fund Grant
Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority

The Seed Capital Matching Fund provides a source of matching grant funds to assist new, startup, and emerging small businesses located within Southwest Virginia’s e-Region and to attract new small businesses from outside the region to locate here. Since the program was established in 2017, more than 200 new business startups have been assisted in the region by the Seed Capital program and hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs have been created. The applicant must have dollar-for-dollar matching funds from one or more other sources in at least an amount sufficient to match funds requested from VCEDA. No applicant can be approved for more than $10,000 under this program.

RI Work Immersion Grants
Rhode Island Commerce Corporation

Work Immersion is an internship support program available to Rhode Island employers. It is designed to boost the employment prospects of new and returning workers (i.e., eligible students and unemployed or underemployed adults) through meaningful paid work experiences. It provides a 50% or 75% reimbursement for wages paid to eligible participants. All Rhode Island employers who meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the program guide may apply.

Fairview URA Grant Program
City of Salem

The City of Salem offers a matching grant program in the Fairview Urban Renewal Area (URA) to support businesses in constructing new buildings, adding to existing structures, or investing in permanent manufacturing equipment and related building improvements. This program is designed to encourage economic growth and enhance business operations within the district. By providing financial support, the program helps reduce the cost burden of construction and equipment investments, making it easier for businesses to grow. For property owners and business tenants, this program offers an opportunity to modernize facilities and improve productivity, benefiting both individual businesses and the community as a whole.

Awesome Foundation Grants
The Awesome Foundation

The Awesome Foundation awards $1,000 grants each month to individuals and groups for various projects. With 84 independently run chapters, members contribute to a micro-funding pool supporting these grants. While funding is not limited to businesses, many startups and small businesses have benefited from the monthly grants. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
