Sales Tax Exclusion (STE) Program
CA State Treasurer's Office

Purpose: CAEATFA supports California's mission to provide financial incentives to cutting-edge companies by offering a sales and use tax exclusion to manufacturers purchasing equipment to promote alternative energy, advanced transportation and recycling, as well as advanced manufacturing. These manufacturers create tens of thousands of high-paying, permanent jobs that bolster the state's economy. Description: The California Alternative Energy and Advanced Transportation Financing Authority (CAEATFA) Sales and Use Tax Exclusion (STE) Program (the “Program”) excludes from sales and use taxes purchases of Qualified Property if its use is either to process Recycled feedstock or using Recycled feedstock in the production of another product or soil amendment; or that is used in an Advanced Manufacturing process; or that is used to manufacture Alternative Source products or Advanced Transportation Technologies. Eligible manufacturers planning to construct a new manufacturing facility or expand or upgrade a currently existing manufacturing facility may apply to CAEATFA for an STE award, and if approved, the purchases of Qualified Property for the project are not subject to state and local sales and use tax.

Shophand Small Business Boost Grant
Shophand

The Shophand $5k Small Business Boost Grant awards U.S. small business owners with a $5,000 total package (split evenly between $2,500 in no-strings-attached cash and $2,500 in Shophand technical support and services) to help them overcome their biggest tech or operational challenge. Administered by Shophand, a small business support platform that blends AI tools with human help for non-techie entrepreneurs, the grant is awarded three times per year on a rolling application schedule. Winners can direct their $2,500 in Shophand services toward AI tools and automation, creative and media support, marketing and tech support, an operations overhaul, software setup, dedicated one-on-one help from a personal Shophand, or a combination of these depending on their biggest challenge. To qualify, applicants must operate a for-profit business (nonprofits are not eligible) that is actively operating rather than idea-stage, based in the United States, has fewer than 50 employees, generates under $5 million in annual revenue, and follows Shophand on Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Solopreneurs are welcome, and Shophand does not weigh applications based on revenue, social following, or popularity. Applications are reviewed based on clarity, need, and impact, with reviewers looking for a clear business story, a meaningful challenge tied to Creative and Media, Development and IT, Finance, Management, Marketing and Sales, or Operations and Customer Experience, a clear sense of how the Boost could help, and demonstrated commitment to improving the business. Preference (but not a requirement) is given to applicants who have used a paid "Your Shophand" service during the current application cycle, since the program aims to support business owners actively investing in improving their systems. Most Boost support is delivered within four to eight weeks of the winner's onboarding call.

Atchison Business Improvement Grant
Atchison County

The ACDC Business Improvement Grant provides existing Atchison County, Missouri businesses with reimbursed matching grants of up to $2,500 to fund improvement projects that support business growth and development. Administered by the Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) and funded through the county's quarter-cent economic development sales tax, the program offers two funding levels: a Basic grant, which reimburses up to 50% of eligible improvement costs to a maximum of $1,000, and a 2.0 grant, which reimburses up to one-third of eligible costs to a maximum of $2,500. Since 2013, the program has assisted with more than 182 projects, leveraging ACDC funds to complete over $1 million in business improvements countywide. Any Atchison County business that is current on taxes and licensure may apply, with businesses eligible for one ACDC grant per location every three years. Projects must be approved before work begins, and grants are issued as reimbursements after completion. Applications are reviewed by a grant committee on a monthly basis and accepted in the order received until all available funds have been awarded.
