About the Grant
A flexible and broad-based program, Advantage Maryland (also known as MEDAAF) funds conditional grants, loans and investments to assist economic development initiatives. Uses include business attraction and retention, infrastructure support, brownfield redevelopment, arts and entertainment districts, daycare, revolving loan funds and local strategic planning. Projects must be within Priority Funding Areas and eligible industry sectors. Awards are made on a competitive basis.

This is a broad program designed to give the Maryland government flexibility in supporting growth within their state. While this is an excellent opportunity, it means that there is not a standard application and set of approval criteria.

Grants are intended to encourage reinvestment in local businesses and promote long-term economic sustainability. The program will award up to $10,000 to one eligible small business during the 2026 grant cycle, helping offset the cost of physical improvements that enhance operations, improve storefronts, and contribute to long-term economic sustainability.
New Mexico Small Business Assistance Program
NMSBA
The New Mexico Small Business Assistance (NMSBA) Program provides New Mexico small businesses facing technical challenges access to the unique expertise and capabilities of Los Alamos and Sandia national laboratories. At no cost to the business, small businesses can seek assistance from lab scientists and engineers to solve challenges and overcome barriers to company success. Since 2000, the two national laboratories have provided $80.6 million in technical assistance to 3,267 businesses enabling 11,116 jobs to be created and retained across the state’s 33 counties.
