MD Partnership for Workforce Quality Grant

The Seed Capital Matching Fund provides a source of matching grant funds to assist new, startup, and emerging small businesses located within Southwest Virginia’s e-Region and to attract new small businesses from outside the region to locate here. Since the program was established in 2017, more than 200 new business startups have been assisted in the region by the Seed Capital program and hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs have been created. The applicant must have dollar-for-dollar matching funds from one or more other sources in at least an amount sufficient to match funds requested from VCEDA. No applicant can be approved for more than $10,000 under this program.

The R4R program is designed specifically for small businesses with 500 or fewer employees. It guides businesses through a three-step process to enhance their preparedness and, if eligible, provides grants when a state emergency order or state disaster declaration is made in their county. Our team will closely monitor emergency orders and disaster declarations from U.S. states and territories. IFS is a national award program hosted by Famous Amos and its community partner, the U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. (USBC). Created to honor the legacy of Famous Amos founder Wally Amos, IFS aims to provide early-stage Black business owners with invaluable tools and resources that foster long-term success. Each year, IFS awards three business owners with $50,000 in capital, in addition to wrap-around services that include mentorship, networking, and educational resources.

This grant provides reimbursement-based microgrants ranging from $500 to $5,000 to help small businesses in Moore County strengthen their operations and contribute to local economic vitality. Eligible businesses include retail, restaurant, and service-based businesses with a current storefront presence in Moore County. Businesses must be locally owned and independently operated, legally incorporated, and have 50 or fewer employees. Grant funds may be used for interior improvements and fixtures, storefront beautification and exterior renovations, equipment purchases, technology upgrades, strategic inventory purchases, marketing and advertising materials, website development and e-commerce platforms, health and safety upgrades, accessibility improvements and workforce development initiatives. “These types of improvements will enhance business sustainability, help create jobs, and revitalize commercial properties throughout Moore County,” said Burich.

Purpose: This grant allows Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and associations on behalf of facilities to apply for funding for in-person visitation support materials. Description: CMP In-Person Visitation grants provide funding for nursing homes to facilitate safer in-person visits through use of outdoor and indoor equipment such as tents, clear dividers, portable fans, and portable room air cleaners with high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA, H-13 or 14) filters in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Replacement air filters are a prohibited expense under this program. Facilities must attest they meet the requirements to purchase the materials and facilitate in-person visitation for residents. Facilities must be certified through the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Applicants may request up to a maximum of $3,000.00 per facility.
