Houston Economic Development Grants

The Royal Credit Union Small Business Grant provides pre-launch, startup, and early-stage small businesses in Wisconsin's Chippewa Valley with a $3,000 grant to support meaningful investments in the business, from startup costs to equipment and technology upgrades. Administered by Royal Credit Union (RCU), a Wisconsin-based credit union headquartered in Eau Claire, the program is designed to empower entrepreneurs with the resources they need to succeed, help create local jobs, and support small business owners in strengthening the communities RCU serves. The grant is currently offered as a pilot initiative, with the goal of expanding to additional communities within RCU's credit union footprint in the future. To qualify, applicants must be owned by Royal Credit Union members or individuals who qualify for membership, be pre-launch, in startup phase, or have been established within the last three years, and be located in one of six eligible Wisconsin counties: Chippewa, Clark, Dunn, Eau Claire, Trempealeau, or Taylor. Applicants are asked to provide information about their business, including financial needs, community impact, and future plans, and must submit a business plan and financial projections as part of the application. Applicants are also encouraged (but not required) to connect with the UW-Eau Claire Small Business Development Center or the Western Wisconsin Women's Business Center for support during the application process.

VCEDA’s Coalfield Workforce Development and Training Fund is a source of loan and/or grant funds to assist with workforce development and training in the VCEDA Region. Eligible applicants for the Coalfield Workforce Development and Training Fund include for-profit enterprises or entities, governmental or corporate instrumentalities in the coalfield region of Virginia, not-for-profit enterprises or entities, nonprofit industrial development corporations, economic development authorities, or industrial development authorities. Funds may be approved as loans and/or grants. Funds may be approved and used for workforce development and training and associated costs, including costs and expenses of curriculum development, training equipment, training facilities construction, instructional materials, stipends, scholarships, tuition, internships, training or retraining instructional costs, retraining costs, recruiting expenses, job advertisements, pre-employment classes, assessments, classroom instructional expenses, process skill instruction, and/or instructor travel expenses, and costs associated with the foregoing. The program is funded from revenues that were previously generated by the Coalfield Employment Enhancement Tax Credit.

The Advancing Skills, Capabilities, and Expertise for New Development (ASCEND) grant will reimburse Texas employers for training that addresses demand for rapidly evolving skills and local workforce conditions. Each grantee may receive up to $500,000 or a maximum reimbursement of $4,000 per trainee. Funds can be used for work-based learning programs, on-the-job training, apprenticeships, and classroom or virtual instruction.

The Attraction Development Grant Program supports the creation of new or enhancing sustainable, market-driven travel experiences in Kansas. Its goal is to attract new visitors, influence travel decisions, and generate economic benefits through new jobs, capital investment, increased revenue, and higher visitation.

The Commissioner Yvette Colbourne's Small Business and Nonprofit Grant provides Miramar, Florida small businesses and nonprofit organizations with up to $5,000 in grant funding to support capacity building, strengthen operations, and stimulate increased business activity. Administered by the City of Miramar's Economic Development and Housing Department and named for Commissioner Yvette Colbourne, the program serves both Mom and Pop small businesses (independently owned and operated with ten or fewer employees) and nonprofit organizations operating under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS tax code. Grant funds may be used for the purchase of machinery and equipment, professional services such as legal, accounting, and marketing, supplies and inventory, technology infrastructure and system upgrades, commercial lease rental deposits, salaries, and other miscellaneous business expenses. To qualify, applicants must operate within the City of Miramar (either at a commercial location or home-based), have been in operation for at least one year, possess a City of Miramar Business Tax Receipt (and Broward County, if applicable), maintain an active Sunbiz registration showing the current business name, and be current on property taxes if a property owner. All organizations applying for funding are required to attend a grant workshop to review program requirements, and recipients may be asked to provide proof that funds were used for the purposes stated in their application.
