Inspiring Spring Mountain: Corridor Improvement Grant

Match on Main is a reimbursement grant program provided by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). It supports new or expanding place-based businesses by offering up to $25,000 in funding through an application submitted, administered, and managed by the local unit of government, downtown development authority, or other downtown management or community development organization where the business is located.

In order to foster job creation and economic development in West Virginia, and stimulate SBIR and STTR results across the State, the West Virginia Legislature initiated the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Investment (EII) Fund. This money is earmarked to provide a monetary award when a business successfully submits a federal SBIR or STTR proposal and receives a Phase I or Phase II award. The amount of the State matching funds awarded is dependent on the existing balance in the EII Fund at the time of application and is typically not a 100% match. There are two award periods during the year for submitting SBIR/STTR Phase I or II matching fund applications: January and July. No preference will be given to the order in which applications are received. Closed Phase I or II SBIR/STTR projects are not eligible for matching funds. In addition to these Phase I and Phase II award periods, businesses can also apply for a Phase 0 award upon submitting a Phase I SBIR or STTR proposal. These Phase 0 awards are distributed as a $2,500 grant and can be applied for during any month of the year.

The Beasley Small Business Grant Program awards small businesses across Beasley Media Group's radio markets with grants of $10,000 in advertising each, totaling $100,000 in advertising value distributed to ten winners per cycle. Administered by Beasley Media Group in partnership with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and offered in celebration of Black Business Month, the program provides selected businesses with a targeted advertising package on a local Beasley station rather than a direct cash grant. The advertising is designed to help winners raise visibility, drive customer acquisition, and reach broader audiences in their market. To qualify, applicants must have generated less than $5 million in annual revenue in the most recently completed fiscal year and must have been incorporated and actively operating as a business for at least two years. Religious institutions, adult entertainment businesses, government entities, schools, political organizations, and CBD or marijuana-related businesses are not eligible. The application requires a 300-word essay describing the business and how it has a positive effect on the community. Because winners receive advertising on a Beasley radio station, the program is best suited for businesses located in or serving markets where Beasley operates.

The Workbar Small Business Grant Contest is an annual contest that awards a $5,000 cash grant and free coworking memberships to Massachusetts-based small businesses. Run by Workbar, a Greater Boston coworking network, the program has been operating since 2021. One Grand Prize winner receives the $5,000 grant plus a one-year free Unlimited coworking membership; two Runner-Ups each receive a 6-month free Unlimited coworking membership; and the Top 10 Finalists each receive a 3-month Unlimited coworking membership. Applicants submit a short form sharing their business story and how they would use the funds, and a panel of judges including Workbar's CEO and outside entrepreneurs selects the winners.

The Queens Flash Grants program awards Queens, New York small businesses with $1,000 microgrants to help solve small but nagging business problems (fixing a broken AC unit, updating an outdated menu, replacing a worn awning, or covering similar minor operational needs where margins simply do not leave room for the expense). Five grants are awarded per cycle. Administered by the Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC), a nonprofit that has supported Queens businesses since 1977, and sponsored by Maspeth Federal Savings, the program is intentionally designed to be quick, low-friction, and accessible to small operators who may not have the bandwidth for lengthy grant applications. The application process is intentionally simple: applicants must complete a standard QEDC client intake form and submit a single-paragraph pitch describing how they would use the money by the program's deadline. Winners are selected at the sole discretion of QEDC and Maspeth Federal Savings, and applications do not guarantee funding. To qualify, applicants must be a business currently operating in Queens or with imminent plans to open in Queens. Home-based businesses run by Queens residents are eligible. Nonprofits, government entities, political organizations, and private individuals are not eligible. All applicants agree to receive communications from QEDC and Maspeth Federal Savings about this initiative and other programs, and consent to QEDC and Maspeth Federal Savings using their name, business description, and relevant imagery in marketing and communications related to the program if selected.
