ABOUT THE GRANT

Wolf-Livestock Compensation Grant Program
CA Department of Fish and Wildlife

Purpose: The purpose of the grant is to help mitigate the impact of wolves on livestock producers in California. The Wolf-Livestock Compensation Grant Program has established three primary areas of need and compensation; direct livestock loss from wolf depredation, the use nonlethal deterrent tools, and the compensation for indirect loss or affects from wolves on livestock. Description: The Wolf-Livestock Compensation Grant Program has three “prongs”, or potential grant opportunities, for eligible applicants: direct loss compensation, nonlethal deterrent methods support, and indirect loss compensation. This grant opportunity involves the first prong, direct loss compensation, in which producers can be compensated for direct livestock loss (death, injury) due to confirmed or probable wolf depredation. Wolf depredation is determined during an investigation and documented by CDFW on a Livestock Loss Determination form. Each reported depredation incident is unique and requires a case-by-case analysis of the evidence, context, and other factors that inform the determination process. CDFW strives to conduct investigations as soon as reasonably possible to preserve physical evidence and gather information from producers and potential eyewitnesses. Wolf depredation is “confirmed” when there is physical evidence that an animal was injured or killed by a wolf and “probable” when there is sufficient evidence to suggest wolf predation (e.g., evidence of predation and evidence that wolves were likely present at the time of injury or death), but not enough evidence to confirm it. Upon issuance of compensation for a direct loss, producers will be expected to consult with the Department to evaluate and implement a deterrent strategy that may be beneficial in reducing wolf-livestock conflict. The deterrent tools and/or actions implemented as part of this strategy may be eligible for compensation under the program’s second prong, if and when sufficient funds are available.

Etsy Emergency Relief Fund
Etsy

Etsy is committed to helping our creative entrepreneurs recover when disasters disrupt their businesses. We’ve partnered with CERF+, a nonprofit organization focused on helping artists prepare for and recover from emergencies and disasters, to create a disaster relief fund just for Etsy sellers. Each quarter, we work with CERF+ to award grants to a select number of eligible sellers. Any Etsy seller who has experienced a federally declared disaster within the past year may apply for a grant, as long as they’ve been an active seller on Etsy for at least one year, and their accounts with Etsy are in good standing.

Basic Research on The Deleterious Effects of Acute Exposure to Ultra-Potent Synthetic (UPS) Opioids
National Institutes of Health

This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) will support research towards understanding and mitigating the deleterious effects of acute exposure to Ultra-Potent Synthetic (UPS) opioids (e.g., fentanyl, carfentanil, nitazenes) and their combinations (fentanyl and xylazine). This NOFO will also support research on the persistent and/or delayed pathophysiological effects after acute exposure to such agents.

RISE PA
PA DEP

The Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania (RISE PA) Grant is a $396 million statewide industrial decarbonization grant program that provides Pennsylvania industrial facilities with reimbursement grants to fund projects that reduce greenhouse gas and co-pollutant emissions. Administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Energy Programs Office and funded through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, the program is designed to lower emissions from Pennsylvania's industrial sector (which accounts for just over 30 percent of the state's total greenhouse gas emissions) while creating jobs, reducing energy costs, and strengthening manufacturing competitiveness. RISE PA awards funding through three competitive tracks tailored to project size: a Small-scale Award Track (SAT), administered in partnership with PennTAP (Penn State's Technology Application Program), for smaller decarbonization projects with multiple funding rounds; and Medium and Large-scale Award Tracks (MAT/LAT), administered through the DCED Enterprise eGrants system, for larger industrial projects. Eligible project types span industrial electrification, energy efficiency and process emissions reductions, switching to low-carbon fuels, on-site renewable energy, carbon capture and storage, and reducing fugitive emissions from natural gas and oil systems and coal mining. Grants are issued on a reimbursement basis, with medium and large-scale projects reimbursed for up to 90 percent of the Base Grant Award as costs are incurred and the remaining 10 percent disbursed once measurement, monitoring, and verification (MMV) of the project's emissions reductions is complete. Applicants can also receive a reimbursement of up to 1 percent of total project cost (capped at $70,000) to offset MMV expenses. Eligible expenses incurred on or after October 1, 2024 may be reimbursed, and all projects must be completed by the program's federally mandated sunset date of April 1, 2029.
